Not-So-Awful Nawful Goes Camping

A Tiny Tale From Banyan Cove

When do an Indian star tortoise, a purple-faced langur monkey, a yellow-browed bulbul bird, and an anxious sloth bear need a cooler full of ant sandwiches?

When they’re off on a camping adventure!

Will the trip be as awesome as his friends expect? Or as awful as Nawful fears?

Come along and see!

(But you might want to pack your own picnic!)

The Story

What it's about

Nawful, an insecure little sloth bear, wonders if camping will be awful. Mishap after mishap on the tropical island seem to confirm Nawful’s anxious fears, and he begins to believe he isn’t as capable as his terrifically talented friends. Could a soggy emergency spark an unexpected discovery that helps build Nawful’s confidence, and leaves him smiling from whisker to whisker?

Beneath this whimsical, author-illustrated tale is the gentle reminder that comparing ourselves with others and worrying about messing up can keep us from fully enjoying the blessings we have been given. Each of us is God’s unique masterpiece, perfectly loved by the One who wisely designed us to be just as we are, imperfections and all!
